Concept :

After the immense success of the first Beats of Love party this summer in the Casino of Ostend with Dr. Lektroluv, and the second edition in Vooruit, Gent with Tiefschwarz, Kozzmozz decided to spread the Beats of Love also to their New Years Eve date so we can let everybody start a new year full of Love and beats of course …

In not less than 3 rooms Kozzmozz bring you all forms of the most contemporary electro music you can find …

The pumping electro beats in room one will be brought to you by Kiko, the man behind the Hot Banana label and the hit ‘Worldcup’ who can also be found on Goodlife from Oxia and The Hacker and the Turbo label from Tiga. Next to that he’s also done projects for David Caretta and The Hacker. At the moment his track ‘Alone in the dark’ can be found on a compilation of Different Recordings and it will be released as the first single of an album on Different at the end of November.

He will be joined by Ed & Kim who not only have their show on Switch but also the parties Breakdown and numerous gigs all over the country. Their colleagues Cook-E & Matic and young wolves in the scene but have already scored themselves on the same radio-stations and have just launched their own concept Cassett in Ghent. Our resident Spacid from the internationally acclaimed Radius Records, an italo-disco label is the cherry on the New years cake!

In room two we bring you Djuma Soundsystem from Germany’s Get Physical label, for the moment seen as the best electro house label around, also by the Belgian public in the Partyguide awards. Their hit ‘Les Djinns’ is the most downloaded track ever on Beatport and also made it to the Belgian dance charts. And they impressed everybody at Ten Days Off so much that they were asked to return just two days later when Ellen Alien had to cancel.

More steaming electro house in that room by Fred Nasen who’s doing quite well with his new label Dogtown records that has artists as Guy J and Guy Gerber on it’s roster. Jens Holmes, Decadance resident and creator of the Son pour Son parties is the third beats supplier and Yves Bash from Warm FM and Equinox FM will close off with a bang !

In the third room more trancey electro sounds from Pete Howl, known from the You Lucky Bitch parties in Decadance and Psytox, the man of many talents who is a regular guest at Kozzmozz events. To top it all of, we’re giving one young talent the change to celebrate a lovely New Year. Send your demo’s to Poppunt now if you think you know how the get that love trance electro sound shake the room!

And as it’s New Years eve expect some special treats as lounge salon, champagne bar , disco lights & a very cosey atmosphere full of love !

The artists:

Kiko (Datapunk, Gigolo, Goodlife)

Since his debut in '92, Kiko is considered one of the very influential players on the French techno scene. The first important project was Phunky Data, a formation of the Grenoble scene (Oxia – The Hacker – Human Body) around the independent labels Goodlife – Interface – Ozon shop (set up by Kiko in '95). This formation, in combination with some other artists, made Grenoble the French electronic city.
By the end of 2000, Kiko decided to take some distance from the decks to concentrate fully on productions and to orientate these productions around two movements that influenced him the most: new-wave and italo disco. This inheritance was discovered for the first time with Midnight Magic (2001), Goodlife (Monique – international underground classic) and last but certainly not least with Love Emulator (2002 – Sinema project created with Stéphane Deschnezeaux).
As Ozone, Kiko created the Hot Banana label with Fabrice G. Hot Banana explores numerous productions and projects of Kiko: Money Penny project, Mix Machine with Gino S (Electrogenic EP from summer 2003 with the famous Bikini track), Human Body, Yannick Baudino, Naommon, David Carretta and a special project with The Hacker and Alexander Robotnick (guy on the forefront of Electro-Disco)
Kiko's diary gets busier and busier by the moment as he's distinguished with éclectism and the originality of his sets: electro-techno-italodisco. Today Kiko doesn't focus completely on the pure but four-four techno of the Ozone days. Kiko’s goal is to produce ‘dance floor’ tracks combining a variation of styles. The reason why he was asked by DJ Hell to release for International Deejay Gigolo, by Tiga for Turbo, by Savas Pascalidis for Lazergun.
2007 brings a new important wave in his musical carreer. Kiko got signed to Anthony Rothers 'Datapunk' stamp. Next to own productions (for ex 'Tragolta'), Kiko will deliver some remixes in the future on this important German label and be taken on in Anthony his agency for Germany.
Early 2008, Kiko his album 'Slave of my mind' will be released by Different (Pias). A scoop is given with the vinyl release 'Alone in the dark' (nov 2007). The album shows the musical evolution and the subtle blend of his preferred styles: electro, italo, atmospheric sounds, minimal. If this isn't enough, Kiko signed with Confused & MBF as well.
Ed & Kim ( Switch )

Forget about Mel&Kim, here's Ed & Kim! 10 years ago this duo started to play records of all kind, because of their eclectic taste. This gave them the opportunity to play at a lot of events, parties and clubs. They knew how to adapt to their audience with their broad music knowledge, but their sets always wore the Ed & Kim trademark. They were the first to play nu-skool breaks in Belgium. Their sets are a mix of different styles like electro, house, techno, breaks, old-skool acid, new wave, dubbed-out disco, rock, funk... everything goes! They never stick to one style and they will surely surprise with some forgotten classics! Four words to describe their dj-style: original, attitude, quality and guts!

In 2001 they gave a perfect example of this dj-style with their own mix-album "Straight from Vinyl 2", which was released on the infamous R&S label (the first SFV was compiled by the Glimmers). During that period they also collaborated for the popular show Switch on Studio Brussels. Every Saturday you can hear them play from 21h till 22h.

Dj-wise Ed & Kim already made guest appearances at festivals and events such as Pukkelpop, Beach Rock, Dour, I Love Techno, City Parade, Groovecity, Body to Body, 10 Days Off, Fuse, H20, Café D’Anvers, Culture Club, Petrol, Silo, … Their residencies in Culture Club, Club Geluk and Fill Collins provided them with more experience and a better view on dj'ing.

Their monthly or bi-monthly residencies at parties and clubs such as Culture Club, At The Villa Vintage (H20), Eazy Fuck (Café d'Anvers), Klank (Charleroi), Coca-disco (Sint Truiden) and their own parties Breakdown (MOD/Hasselt) are their current challenges. Bodyslamming!

Spacid ( Radius Records, Body to Body )

Spacid is a well-respected dj in Belgium as well as abroad. There are various good reasons why Spacid is resident for the infamous Body 2 Body parties in Ghent-based Culture Club, but most important reason of all is that he always manages to make the roof come down! We can easily count these Body 2 Body nights to the list of biggest electro-events in Belgium. He's also the founder of the Funky Green Aliens, a Ghent-based organization aiming to promote groundbreaking and experimental music.

Innovation and progress are the essence of his music addiction. It's this attitude that got him hooked on nu-skool electro already back in 1997. From then on, he's been a resident at Belgium's biggest electro parties.

He currently runs the Radius label. Radius is a subsidiary label of NEWS, celebrating Italo-Disco, both classic and current. Radius digs for the influences of the modern electro disco hype, seeking to prove that the music of 20 years ago still can sound very modern, and that dance music not only found it's origin in Detroit.

Spacid plays different styles of music, but at this party you can expect some overwhelming electro!

Cook-E & Matic ( Switch )

Cook-E & Matik team up as a dj-duo in 2006. Despite their young age, both already built up quite some experience. Together their dj and music careers add up to over 14 years now!

Each has developed his own, unique style up until now. Combining these two individuals creates a truly refreshing sound and experience, for both themselves as for their crowds. Keeping an open mind, they play a fine mix of electro, house, minimal and nu-disco...

Cook-E & Matik have proven themselves at parties and club nights across Belgium. In 2007 they start their own party concept in Ghent called “Cassett”. Their accomplishments don’t go unnoticed, resulting in their current residency at Dirty Dancing, Brussels. They are also hosting a weekly radio show on Friday nights in Switch, the famous dance program on Belgian national radio Studio Brussels.

Djuma Soundsystem (Get Physical Music)

You might have heard that haunting and sexy track with that oriental guitar break in it, which seems to work just as well primetime in a club as it does accompany a sunrise. That instrument is a “sass”, the track is called “Les Djinns”, and it was made by Djuma Soundsystem. Les Djinns has actually been the most sold track on beatport.com ever, - which is the biggest shop for electronic music in the world at this moment. It has been remixed close to fifty times! A lot of bootlegs appeared but also big names such as Moby, Swen Weber, Def Jaguar and Trentemøller put their hands on it.

But Djuma Soundsystem is much more than just their megahit! The two guys, Mikkas and Lars, have been dj’ing for decades, and produced together for 6 years. Mikkas is Norwegian, and Lars is Danish, both situated in Copenhagen. They first met at an electronic festival in Sweden, called Nordberg. One of the stages of the festival was a huge Kraftwerk show, with an amazing acoustic, that had a sound delay like a cathedral. One night they started playing together using the incredible acoustic, not stopping before they passed out the next day. Mikkas and Lars started their producer career in a quite odd way, for being “dj-producers”.

In 2001 they composed and produced the music for the ballet "Off The Record" for The Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. It is a ballet that merges classical music with elements of new electronic genres such as electronica and break-beats. It resulted in standing applause and flowers from the queen herself. Mikkas and Lars’ mothers were finally impressed by their sons!

After this the guys made many different projects, but always as a team. So the chemistry seems to be a match made in heaven. They have produced everything from deep electronica to underground pop, like working for Gotan Projects Cohen Solal and making one of the remixes that helped the breaking of Junior Seniors “Move your feet”. Djuma Soundsystem are signed to the German label Get Physical Music. One of the best known underground labels in the world and home for artists such as M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T, Booka Shade, Samim etc. The latest production of the duo has been a remix for Def Jaguars latest single “Chick 1”, that is just been released on the British label “IO”. They also have a single coming out on “Brut”, made together with their friend Flip.

The Djuma boys also have made enough material to play live. They made their debut concert at the Roskilde festival this year, raising the roof of a packed 8000 capacity tent, playing after label mates M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade and off course they impressed everybody at Ten days Off this year where they got to play twice after the cancellation of Ellen Alien and they rocked it twice also !

Jens Holmes ( Decadance )

Jens Holmes(“77) grew up in Ghent. At the age of ten, he was already break-dancing his ass off. Collecting records became a second nature, with the result that his current collection and musical knowledge would make people turn green with envy. Early influences came from hip-hop, electro, new beat, disco and pop music to rock and classical dance stuff. Beginning of the 90's, "his interest in house music was awakened by his older brother. He brought home tapes from Boccaccio, Cherrymoon and La Rocca, his regular party-places.

He started playing at smaller bars in and around Ghent(e.g Soul Sol, Mowgli) until one day, he won a dj contest(Lodeo, Stu Bru, Het Volk). This first place and the Teknoville and Tess parties Studio Brussel threw, got him a residency at Club Decadance in Ghent.

Besides his residency at the Club Decadance, he also plays as a guest dj in most clubs in Belgium e.g. Café D’Anvers, Culture Club, Club 69 now Suite 16, Make -Up, Petrol and events such as Pacha Mama, Free Vibes, Push It, Laundry Day, Body2Body and Son Pour Son his own concept in Decadance.

Since April 2004 Jens Holmes is a monthly resident in France. He played in Lyon @La Chapelle and got to meet Fred K with whom he started playing gigs with at Club La Maison, Folies Pigalles, Le Tryptique in Paris. He also plays as a guest in Holland at De Rechter, Eindhoven Jens Holmes was also invited to play at the annual Techno Parade in Paris 2005, where he played on the Magic Garden Truck with Jeff K. Next to all this deejaying Jens Holmes also writes vinyl reviews and interviews for Out Soon magazine, the only house and techno magazine in Belgium.

And if that isn't enough he also hosts and produces his own radioshow on Urgent.fm on 105.3FM, every Friday from 22H till 00H. In 2006 he was selected to play on the 10Days Off Festival in Ghent, Belgium for the second time. In 2007 he got to play on Stu Bru's national show Switch, where he played as a guest dj again. Expect some serious electro-house damage.

Fred Nasen ( Dogtown Records )

Born in Kortrijk, class of '75 , now living & working in the Ghent area , Fred started his dj. career in the early 90's with residencies at the (in)famous 'At The Villa' parties , Balmoral after club (Ghent) and the H20 club. Playing clubby house, he immediately became a well in demand dj.

Later he secured himself a job at the News record- and distribution company, where he's working now as a label / import manager. From clubby house he soon evolved to an explicit tech-house style inspired by the London scene with The End from Mr. C at the forefront.

After releasing his own productions (together with studio partner Dimitri De Wever (Swirl People)) on the 'Local' imprint , Fred started up his own label 'Visitor' around 1998 , on which the first release was his 'Sunday visitor ep' which lays between funky techno the real Chicago house , his second release with remixes by Nathan Coles was featured in Carl Cox top 10 chart in Muzik magazine. After that he signed releases by Gideon Jackson, Big Hair, Eddie Richards, Colin Dale ,Grant Dell , Dj Ali, Asad Rizvi , Tom Gillieron , Ravi Mcarthur and his own productions!

In 2007 he started up a new label called 'Dogtown' to give the freshest talents of today a new platform ! On the roster already are Pelle Buys ( Einmusik , Italic) , Guy J ( Bedrock / Turbo ) , Chaim (Cocoon , Bpc) , Guy Gerber & Daso ( Connaisseur , Spectral Sound) . In the latest Partyguide poll / awards ( belgiums biggest party forum) , Dogtown was voted at nr 10 as best belgian label & only 5 months after it's first release , so the future is looking good ....

He played already at clubs abroad like Pacha ( Buenos Aires , Argentina) ,WMC 2004 ( Miami) , Seven Eleven (Atlanta , Usa) The End (London), Surreal party (Brighton), Folie's Pigalle, Le Wagg Scream parties ( Paris), Malta, La Salla del Cell (Barcelona), Impulz & Pinkpop (Holland) and all big Belgian festivals.

Fred was also resident at the monthly Studiotek parties (late 90's) together with Dave Mothersole where they had guests like Mark Farrina, Richard Grey, Gideon Darren Roach. Played for 7 years & more at the famous kozzmozz parties in Ghent & was resident at Muzzik ( the house division of Kozzmozz) .
His favorite producers / dj's are Ewan Pearson , Justus Kohncke , John Digweed , Guy Gerber , Michael Mayer , Will Saul , D'julz , Bushwacka & more

Yves Bash ( Warm FM )

Born in the city of Liege (Belgium), Yves started to be attracted by the electronic sounds around the mid. 80's. Back then, he listened to new wave, ebm and of course, at the end of the 80's, a lot of new beat. In 1990, he discovered the "techno" movement and began to go out in a lot of parties and clubs like the Dorian Gray, The Warehouse, The Boccacio, Mayday, etc...It's in 1992-93 that he starts mixing , influenced by the typical German style.

He decided to take a break as a dj till 1998 , when he got his hands and ears on a track produced by Miss Kittin & The Hacker called : "Champagne.e.p.", a track that turned into a huge hit a few months later. Totally seduced by this record , Yves started dj-ing again in 2001 with electro-techno mixes with full energy and melodies and 1980's sounds influences. At the same time he started producing and also collaborated (with 2 friends dj) at the organization of parties Electro-Head, there were 7 editions of these parties, the last was in 2004 at the Steed Club.

A logical continuation followed with his first appearance abroad at the Rio club in Dijon (France) and his first participation to the LektroKlash with David Carretta (live) , two appearance at the Kozzmozz parties at Vooruit, Décadance, Beat n' Bass, EazyF*ck and many others .......The sounds which he likes for the moment is electro and electro-house with many influences, and always very dance-floor minded ! And the story goes on with residencies on radio stations Warm FM and Equinox FM and sometimes on radio Kozzmozz.

Psytox ( Coïncidence Records)

PsyTox (formerly Norman Bates) has been dj'ing since 1989 on parties throughout Belgium and the neighbouring countries. Rather than being pigeonholed into one style of music, he mixes very eclectic sets, including elements of acid, house, techno, deephouse, minimal, breakz, trance, d'n'b,... . It has brought him to a wide variety of venues in different scenes.

With dj sets at established events such as KozzMozz (with Bern), Intenze (with Andre Galluzzi), Minimalicious (with Andrew Weatherall),… and venues such as Fuse, Decadance or Silo, he has been known to play extensive sets (up to 10 hours straight) which incorporate elements of all these styles, building up to climaxes and telling a story through the music.

Together with Edward Molton he also founded his own digital imprint Coincidence which releases work from artists from Belgium and (far) beyond: Tom Dazing, The Office, Chaim or Soul Phonic are just a few of the names on the label. In November 2007 he started a vinyl-only label called Forteana which has just released his first EP by Deep’a & Vek (with a remix by Chaim).

On Beats Of Love he will be playing a deep neo-trance and minimal set, show-casing upcoming releases as well as unreleased material made especially for the occasion.

Pete Howl ( You Lucky Bitch )

Pete Howl (°79) has always been passionate about music. Discovering electronic music at a very young age, made him a real addict of what was called ‘house music’, in those days the denominator of all kinds of electronic music and the basis of many (sub)genres known today.

Always in search of new experiences, he was introduced in the underground psychedelic scene in its glorious days back in ’98. Under several pseudonyms he played at all major parties and soon got to be known as one of the leading national psytrance dj’s that period. As the music keeps evolving, so is Pete Howl. This leaded him to a complete change-over as a dj such as a music lover. Promoting the minimal and electro sound, he won the ‘Laundry Day’ dj-contest in 2006 and therefore played at Belgian’s biggest dj-festival. From that day on, he is gaining more and more respect by several promoters, organizers and dj’s. As a result he became a resident of the monthly ‘You Lucky Bitch’-parties at Decadance and plays as a guest at several parties and in various clubs all over the country.

His sets are always innovating and bring the right atmosphere in the right place. This didn’t go unnoticed by the audience as he was voted 2nd ‘Best National Young Talent’, 9th ‘Best National Electro DJ’ and 12th ‘Best National Techno DJ’ in the Partyguide Awards 2007.
